February Class Schedule

Hey everyone! We have an exciting and busy month ahead!  Join us for metal clay, wrapped bracelet, fun wire cuffs, cold connect and beginning lampwork classes all happening at the Bead Boutique in Altamonte Springs.  You can call them at 1-407-574-7164 to reserve your seat today.  Class sizes are limited to 7 for everything except the lampwork, which is limited to 3 per class. Also don’t forget our trunk show happening the 3rd, 4th & 5th at the Bead Boutique.  We’ll be bringing our handmade silver, bronze, copper and lampwork treasures along with our full line of pewter, hammered glass and chain! 

January 26th & 27th:

Chan-Luu Style Wrap Cuff $22 plus kit. 12-3, 3:30-6:30 -

Learn how to make the incredibly popular and
stylish ladder bracelets. In this class we’ll be creating a cuff-style bracelet
using thunder polish crystal, pewter and waxed cotton cord. Once you know the
technique the sky is the limit. Make multi-wrap Chan-Luu style bracelets,
anklets & necklaces! Kits are $7-10 each. Additional supplies available for
purchase in class to make more.

Friday February 3rd

~ Full Trunk Show – Pewter, lampwork, molds, etc.

~ 12-3 Molded Bronze Pendant and Earrings Class

Skill Level: Open to all.  Fee: $65 + clay
This class combines the fun and ease of
bronze metal clay with 2 part mold making. You get to choose from a variety of
vintage buttons to create your own rubber mold. When the mold is ready we’ll use
bronze clay and your mold to make a beautiful pendant and earrings. You’ll
learn all you need to know to work and fire bronze clay as well as make molds
of your favorite found objects.

~ 3:30-6:30 Button Bounty in Metal Clay

Skill level: Open to all.  Fee: $65 + clay.
Learn to craft your own buttons in metal clay.  You’ll learn to roll, texture, shape, and use
molds with metal clay to create 2-hole and shank buttons! You’ll also learn how
to fire, finish and patina your buttons!
A great introduction to the world of metal clay!!

Saturday February 4th

~ Full Trunk Show

~ 12-3 Lovely Lentils

Skill level: Open to all.  Fee: $65 + clay.
Another great way to try out metal clay or learn
a new skill! Find out what metal clay is all about as you make this 2-sided
lentil bead. I’ll show you how to roll, texture and shape each piece, join them
together, and then sand and prep for firing in a kiln. When it’s done we’ll
tumble, polish and patina the bead, then add a large jump ring to hang it from!

 

~3:30-6:30 What’s Your Inspiration Pendant

Skill Level: Open to all.  Fee: $65 + clay.

This fun pendant is a great intro to metal clay.
We’ll show you how to roll, texture and shape each piece, add inspirational
words of your choice, drill holes and then sand and prep for firing in a kiln.
When it’s done we’ll tumble, polish and patina the pieces, and assemble the
finished pendant! Show off this fun pure silver pendant or give it as a gift to
someone you love!!

Friday February  10th

~Wire Chan-Luu Style Cuff – 12-3, 3:30-6:30 

Skill level: Open to all.  Fee: $35 plus kit
Learn to make these trendy bracelets using wire! In this class we’ll be creating a cuff-style bracelet using thunder
polish crystal, pewter and artistic wire.

Saturday February 11th
~Cold Connect Pendant, 12-3, 3:30-6:30


Skill level: Open to all. Fee: $35 plus kit.
Welcome to cold connections! In this beginner class you’ll learn how to use hole
punching, riveting, hammering, metal stamping and wire techniques along with inexpensive
materials such as nickel silver, copper and wire to create your own unique cold
connect pendant.

Thursday February 23rd

Skill level: Open to all.  Fee: $95 plus kit $15
Have you always wanted to try your hand at lampworking?  This is the class for you!  We’ll learn all about the basics of working on a torch, safety concerns and basic techniques for making borosilicate glass beads.  Learn to work with different tools, types of glass and simple patterns. I leave lots of time to create and experiment.  We’ll also cover annealing and cleaning of beads.  A great way to get started with glass working!

Let’s start with the hammered glass strands.  We now have your favorite pale blues back in stock along with some fabulous reds and blacks.  We are so happy to have these great strands featured in the newest issue of Bead Style magazine as an editor’s pick from Bead & Button 2011. Yay!

Gilders Paste is in!!  We have 18 fantastic colors and if you haven’t tried it yet you MUST, MUST, MUST! Each tin is only $8 each. Stay tuned for more application details or visit the articles section of our store for uses and application tips.

Kumihimo supplies are now in stock! We have round and square disks as well as bobbins, glue, instruction booklets and more.  Whether you use beads, fibers, cording or wire we have the supplies you need.  These also make great stocking stuffers for a crafty friend or family member!

Crystal clearout! We have our strands of 3mm crystal rondelles on sale for only $2 per strand, just in time for your holiday crafting!

Tucson Here We Come

Our class lineup for Tucson is finalized! I cannot tell you how excited I am about these new classes! I’ll be posting pictures soon but The Rules class sample is above.  In this class you’ll learn how to tin, texture, shape, rivet and solder mixed metals to create your own perfect pendant! So cool!! Go mom!! =)

Vintage Button Molds – Handmade from vintage buttons, these molds are terrific and easy to use with all types of clay! Only $6 and going FAST!

 

Spacer Strands! – Glass spacer beads in triangles & donuts. A terrific, affordable solution for your spacer needs!

Resin Nugget Strands – Fun & funky strands in vibrant colors, these nuggets are crafted in resin so they are super lightweight!

Gemstone strands!

We now have large hole semiprecious gemstone strands available exclusively through our online store!  Amethyst, sodalite, tiger’s eye, picture jasper, ocean jasper, fancy jasper, poppy jasper, ( did I mention the jaspers?!?) mookaite, amazonite, rhodochrosite, bronzite, red tiger’s eye and onxy! Each strand is approximately 8 inches in length, and individual beads are approximately 10mm with a 2.5 mm hole perfect for cording, stretch elastic, leather, heavy gauge wires, etc. We have them in tubes, rondelles, rounds and heishis!  Strands are $10 each or become a fan on Facebook to get a 10% off coupon!

Slowly, slowly!

Our online store and Etsy sites are slowing getting restocked after Bead & Button! We’re also working on our July schedule of classes in Orlando including cold connects, tinning, Kumihimo, viking knit, lampwork and metal clay rings! We’ll be teaching these in our Orlando studios but we’re also available for private classes anytime!

A quick snapshot of our booth.  I am having the best time here at the show and I’m in awe of all the amazing vendors here too! I had the chance to talk with some of favorite artists yesterday and can I just say, could the lampworking community be filled with nicer people?!?? Excited to see how the first full day goes.  Stay tuned for more information!
